Halloween

We weren't going to go trick or treating since Halloween was on Sunday and all. Our very good friends the Dolan's invited us to dinner instead. It was a great night! We got to get the kids all dressed up, which they loved, then they played games and just had fun together.
Charity made some amazing pumpkin pasta! OH MAN was it delicious!
Ethan, Bella, Sydney, Brock, Hannah, Jeremy, and Sereena
Charity and I made spud-nuts
Maple iced spud-nuts!

After dinner we got together with Alan and his boys because although our intentions were good we did end up going Trick-or-Treating because Josh and Nathan hadn't been in 12 years and couldn't remember the experience...so we took them.
We had so much fun. They boys LOVED it! They couldn't believe you could walk up to a house say some crazy thing like Trick or Treat and get a bunch of candy...or...lollies as they call it.
Brian made friends with the scary thing that crawled out from under a neighbor's car! YEEEIKES!
Don't they look cute...no costume, just loving this crazy US holiday. It was a great couple of hours!

A blast from the past

We had a lovely visit from some wonderful friends we unfortunately haven't seen in 12 years! Brian and Alan were business partners when Brian and I first got married. I have actually known Alan longer than I have known Brian. Thats another story... anyway, when Alan lost his father he and the family packed up and moved back home to Australia. It was a pretty tough thing for us to loose them. We almost moved Down Under to go into business with Alan there after Ysabel was born....and that is yet another story. Anyway, Alan Wood and boys flew up from Australia to visit for a while. They have definitely been missed!
This is Nathan...he was 3 last time we saw him.
Josh was 5 last time he was here
and this is Alan...and he was 12 years younger last time we saw him. However Alan, you don't look a day older :)
The fun thing is that Aunt Kammi got to come with them! IT was AWESOME seeing the 4 of them!
The last night they were in town Alan graciously took us all to dinner...at one of our old haunts...Red Robin.

Nate on his 3rd Dr. Pepper! Dinner had just been ordered! Gotta love him! Poor kid, only one store near his home sells Dr. Pepper but its $3.75 per can! So he was tanking them down and enjoying every last drop!

Hope it isn't another 12 years til we see them next. I haven't laughed this hard in 12 years! These guys have a heap of stories and now that Alan has his boys to keep him company they have only gotten funnier! It was so great to have them around for a few days again! Sure love em!

A hysterical life lesson from my wise cousin Casey Baird

I did not provoke the fight so I feel no remorse for what I was forced to do. We were arguing, and seeing that I was right and he was wrong, he decided to fight to cover up his stupidity. He swung at me first, but being in top condition, I was able to act quickly and block the punch neatly with my head. Whereupon I jumped to the ground knocking him down on top of me.

Then I placed my ear in his mouth and poked his finger several times with my eye. His teeth hurt so much from the strength of my ear that he became irate and tried to kick me, but I cleverly blocked his onslaught with my ribs and face. I scrambled to my feet and ran to my car in hopes that I would get away and save this man from my deadly hands. Before I could start the car, he pulled me from the still open door. I then proceeded to swing at him but only managed to hit myself with his head. Then I said, "What's this? Two against one?"

That was the final straw. I lost all control. There will be no mercy! Taking him in my death grip, I pounded him in the knee with my stomach, then hit him two or three times real hard in the fist with my teeth! He had had it! I could tell! After that he didn't even try to pick me up off the ground. He was to CHICKEN!

Perspective is everything! Don't let life beat you up! Take it by the reigns and turn it into what you need it to be! Thanks Casey for the great lesson!

A box of REAL bones!

For our lab in Anatomy and Physiology today our professor gave each table a box of real bones. With direction from our lab book and text book we started to identify which bone was which...where the fossa, condyles, head, filangies, ribs, etc. etc. were. We got a tiny bit side tracked when Jen got a little mouthy....

two of my lab partners...and whats left of the third
Roxy....Jen?...and Jerson

Ok, really, Jen was gone today, but Roxy really wanted to see if we had all the bones to get this body back together. It took a while but this is what we found before we actually got what we had back together.
an airplane
an arm
a sharp shooter equipped with rifle
WIIIILSOOOOOOON!
a heart
a family tree
a hand
two heads!
IT was a great lab. Who knew you could do so much with a box of bones? There were other masterpieces, but for the sake of time I only chose those that were best for the audience.
ALSO!!!!
I wanted to throw in a few pictures from my favorite lab...The RAT DISSECTION
Please don't look if you can't handle it. It was a very interesting lab for me. I really enjoyed it.
