One of our first stops on our move to Idaho was in Kirtland OH. Kirtland is quite a big deal when it comes to the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared at least 3 different times here. I had no idea!
This is the Kirtland temple. The RLDS people are caretakers of the temple and believe Christ will come in the Second coming basically to reclaim it. They have done a great job keeping it in beautiful condition. On the 3 floor is Joseph Smith Jr.'s office, one of the places the Godhead appeared.
This is at the Johnson farm. The missionaries call it the Sacred Grove of Ohio. It was so peaceful and you can definitely feel the spirit here. One of those places you really don't want to leave!
Newel K Whitney prayed for the prophet Joseph to come to OH. When Joseph arrived with Emma she was worried they wouldn't have a place to stay. When Joseph pulled up to the store he received revelation that Newel had prayed them there. Newel gave them the entire upstairs of the store.
This is a room upstairs that the Prophet used for the "School of the Prophets" This is where the Word of Wisdom revelation came. The bretheren would sit and smoke their pipes and chew tabaco while discussing the gospel, Emma came in one day and mentioned to Joseph that the condition of the room was not consistant with the spirit. Joseph prayed about it and the WOW was given. They say that the smoke was so thick you could hardly see the man at the front from the back row of benches.

We were given a wonderful tour of the "town" by the sister missionaries. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place. So many pieces of doctrine were given here. I never realized how important Oh was in the lives of the LDS people.
